In a significant development, a Mumbai-based lawyer has lodged a formal complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), accusing ticketing platform BookMyShow and Live Nation Entertainment of orchestrating a large-scale ticket scam for Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in India. The lawyer, Amit Vyas, has also signalled plans to file a public interest litigation (PIL) before the Bombay High Court to address this issue.

The complaint centres around the sale of tickets for Coldplay’s “Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025,” scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21 2025 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Tickets for the event went live on BookMyShow on September 22. Vyas alleges that BookMyShow manipulated ticket access, blocking users and forcibly logging them out, allowing bots and black-market operators to dominate sales.

Additionally, Vyas claims tickets marked as "sold out" later appeared on resale platforms like Viagogo at prices 30 to 50 times higher than the original, violating consumer rights. The lawyer has accused the platforms of cheating, organised crime, and criminal conspiracy, prompting an EOW investigation.

BookMyShow has denied the allegations, emphasizing its lack of connection to resale platforms and condemning ticket scalping. The company has filed its own complaint and urged consumers to avoid purchasing from unauthorised sources.
