The couple vanished on May 23 while exploring the Cherrapunji area. Intensive search operations led to the shocking discovery of Raja’s body in a deep gorge on June 2. Initially presumed missing, Sonam was later found in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh—some reports claim she surrendered, while others say she was apprehended at a roadside eatery after a tip-off.
According to Meghalaya Police, Sonam had been having an affair with a man named Raj Kushwaha. She allegedly hired four contract killers from Madhya Pradesh to eliminate her husband. Three of the assailants have been arrested, while one remains at large.
Police say Sonam vanished immediately after Raja’s murder, raising immediate suspicion. She has now admitted to plotting the murder, traveling with her husband to a remote location under the guise of love, only to have him thrown into a gorge by the hired killers.
This cold-blooded betrayal, disguised as a honeymoon, has shocked the nation—highlighting the depths of deceit and the horrifying brutality with which the crime was carried out.
