In a symbolic union marked by both love and religious transition, a Muslim woman embraced Hinduism and married her Hindu partner in a traditional ceremony held on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s birthday. The wedding, which took place at the Durga temple in Manjhanpur village, drew considerable attention as villagers and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists gathered to witness and bless the couple.

Sajan, a driver from Manjhanpur in the Manjhanpur Kotwali area, met Reena while delivering goods to Manikpur in Pratapgarh district. Their initial interactions over the phone soon blossomed into a deeper relationship. However, the couple faced strong resistance from Reena’s family due to religious differences.

Determined to continue their relationship, Reena chose to convert to Hinduism through traditional rituals. The conversion and wedding ceremony were both conducted on Thursday, coinciding with the birthday of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, adding symbolic weight to the occasion.

Reena explained that religion had become a hurdle in their love, prompting her to adopt Hinduism willingly. Sajan, meanwhile, convinced his family to support their union. The ceremony was performed in full accordance with Hindu customs, including the sacred seven rounds around the fire (saptapadi).

The event has sparked local interest and discussions, particularly due to the presence of VHP members and the timing of the wedding with a prominent political leader's birthday.
