  • 80 out of 282 scanning centres found to flout rules

Doctors are highly respected on account of their ability to provide a new lease of life. But the trend of misusing the credentials to fuel one’s greed is disheartening. A bulk of clinics operating without licence have been identified. All that glitters is not gold. Similarly not all doctors have an MBBS degree.

The shocking incident unfolded in the Mysuru district wherein Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has great fanfare. The Health Department of Mysuru acting alongside NewsFirst have cracked down on the conmen. Fake Clinics, fake doctors and even scanning centres were taken to task. Several such undertakings across the district have come to light.

Some clinics did not even have doctors. Others were not visited by doctors. Some have not completed their registration process or obtained licences. In some clinics the prescriptions for medicines were already in place even before the patients visited the doctors. 40 clinics have been served a notice on the basis of suspicion. 17 clinics have been sealed. Out of the 282 scanning centres, 80 have been observed to flout regulations. The DHO of Mysuru lauded NewFirst for its initiative in identifying the clinics as well as support in bringing a conclusion to the illegal female foeticide taking place.

Similar raids were also conducted in Udupi. The DHO filed a case with regard to violation of the KPME.
