Lalit Modi, the former chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has made serious allegations against former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N Srinivasan, accusing him of fixing auctions and manipulating umpire appointments during IPL matches to favor his team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

In an explosive interview with Raj Shamani, Modi claimed that Srinivasan, who was BCCI secretary at the time, was not in favor of the IPL. Modi alleged that when he opposed Srinivasan’s influence, the latter began orchestrating the appointment of umpires from Chennai for CSK matches, which Modi described as a form of match-fixing. "I realized he was putting Chennai umpires in Chennai games. That’s fixing," Modi stated, adding that his attempts to expose this manipulation led to conflicts with Srinivasan.
This new accusation brings back memories of the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, which rocked CSK. Gurunath Meiyappan, a senior CSK official and Srinivasan's son-in-law, was arrested in connection with cheating, fraud, and forgery. Investigations revealed that Meiyappan had frequent contact with actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who was also arrested for alleged links with bookies and was seen in the CSK box during matches.
These new revelations have once again put the spotlight on the controversies surrounding CSK and its leadership.
