Following numerous requests from general public for Namma Clinics to remain open till late in the evening, this demand has been fulfilled by the state health department.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundurao said Namma Clinics will remain open from 12pm to 8pm to accommodate the request of many people, particularly the working class people.
These timings would be effective at a few clinics in Bengaluru on a pilot basis, based on the response it receives, these timings would be extended to all other Namma Clinics, he added.
Earlier, these clinics were only open from 9 am to 1:30 pm and 2 pm to 4:30 pm. With these timings, the working class found it very difficult to seek medical assistance during these hours as they would be at their work during these hours.
There are around 110 Namma Clinics operational within the BBMP limits.
These clinics were initially launched by the BJP government. These clinics were aimed at providing comprehensive primary healthcare in urban areas.
Each of these clinics will have a doctor, a nursing staff, a lab technician, and a worker.
These clinics will also refer patients to secondary and tertiary centres if patients require major treatment. These clinics also help patients reduce the cost of their treatment and decentralise healthcare service.
