The ridership of Namma Metro is witnessing an upward trajectory owing to its expanding network. In February, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) achieved a significant milestone as 7,59,725 passengers availed Metro services on a single day, marking a new record on February 24.

Throughout the month, a total of 2,04,71,595 passengers chose Metro travel, setting a record for the highest ridership. On February 5, BMRCL recorded its highest revenue from ticket sales, amounting to Rs 2,18,04,282, contributing to a gross revenue of Rs 53,10,70,145 for the month.

Metro authorities observed a notable surge in the adoption of QR tickets, which now constitute 15.69 per cent of the total metro tickets purchased through code scanning. In contrast, the usage of manual tokens has dwindled to 30.91 per cent, while smart card users comprise 53.4 per cent of the total. Anticipating further growth in ridership, Metro officials look forward to the completion of pending stretches of Phase 2.

BMRCL reportedly highlighted the pivotal role of the Central Silk Board (CSB) junction in Phases 2A and 2B. Recognized as the busiest junction in the city, CSB junction serves as a crucial point for Metro expansion.

BMRCL is actively constructing Metro corridors on the Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra and on the Blue Line from CSB to KR Puram station, with plans for extension towards the airport.
