The counting of votes for Bihar’s 18th Legislative Assembly election has begun today across 38 districts, marking a crucial day for the state’s political future. Polling was held in two phases on November 6 and 11, and results for all 243 constituencies will be declared today. The Election Commission has set up 46 counting centres where officials are working under tight security.

This year’s polls witnessed several high-profile candidates, including Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Samrat Choudhary, Anant Singh, Lakhisarai’s leaders, and singer-turned-politician Maithili Thakur. Their political futures will be decided based on today’s verdict.

The 2025 Bihar Assembly election recorded an impressive voter turnout of 67.13%, marking one of the highest in the state’s history. A total of 2,616 candidates contested across 243 constituencies, making it a highly competitive election. According to most exit polls, the NDA is projected to return to power, though the final results will confirm the actual outcome. The majority mark required to form the government is 122 seats.

This election also carries historic significance. If the NDA secures victory, Nitish Kumar may be sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time, continuing a political journey that began in 2000. He has already taken oath nine times, making him one of India’s longest-serving chief ministers. On the other hand, a win for the Mahagathbandhan could see Tejashwi Yadav become the next Chief Minister, marking a generational shift in Bihar politics.
