The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested five individuals across multiple states in a major counterterrorism operation, exposing a Pakistan-linked terror module and recovering materials suspected for use in improvised explosive device (IED) construction.
Officials reportedly confirmed that the operation began with the detention of two suspects earlier, followed by three more arrests, bringing the total number held to five. The suspects were picked up from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, and Ranchi after coordinated raids across four to five states. Nearly eight others were questioned during the crackdown.

Investigators revealed that the group maintained close contact with handlers in Pakistan through encrypted channels and social media platforms. The key member, identified as Ashraf Danish, was allegedly directing activities from within India while staying in touch with foreign operatives. Authorities suspect the network was involved in radicalising youth online, operating several digital groups aimed at fostering communal discord and disturbing social harmony.
Police also seized large quantities of chemicals and electronic components
The police also seized large quantities of chemicals and electronic components believed to be used in bomb-making. Among the recovered items were hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfur powder, copper sheets, ball bearings, strip wires, electronic circuits, laptops, mobile phones, and cash. A country-made pistol with live rounds was also confiscated from Danish.
Officials stated that the investigation remains active, with digital evidence and communication records under scrutiny to track further links and prevent potential terror activities.
