Strong Focus on Small Arms Manufacturing
All these weapons are being developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative. Notably, private defence companies are now actively contributing to India’s weapons manufacturing sector. SSS Defence, in particular, places strong emphasis on small arms production. The company says it is focusing on next-generation infantry weapons, combat equipment, and the use of advanced modern manufacturing technologies.

Internal Security
The weapons produced in the first batch have been developed for use by various state police forces and internal security units. These weapons will be deployed to strengthen the country’s internal security and support effective law enforcement operations.

Damascus Swords and India’s Ancient Metallurgical Legacy
Krishnan also referred to the historic Persian term “Jawab-e-Hind” (meaning “the Indian answer”). The term originally described swords made from Indian Wootz steel, known for their lethal cutting power. In ancient times, Wootz steel produced in India was exported to many parts of the world and gained global recognition. This steel later became the foundation for the legendary Damascus blades, which are famous for their exceptional strength, craftsmanship, and sharpness.

According to Krishnan, India has always been a land of warriors and skilled weapon craftsmen. He said that the present and future generations now have the honour of carrying forward this legacy through advanced technology, engineering, and by meeting the demands of the modern battlefield.
