Divya Gehlot files a detailed complaint in Ratlam alleging severe domestic violence, dowry harassment, and an attempt on her life by her husband and in-laws.
A serious complaint has been filed in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, after Divya Gehlot, wife of Devendra Gehlot and granddaughter-in-law of Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, alleged sustained physical, mental, and financial harassment by her husband and in-laws. The written complaint, submitted to Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, lists grave accusations including dowry demand, domestic violence, and an attempt to murder.

Divya stated that her husband Devendra Gehlot, aged 33, along with his father Jitendra Gehlot (55), former MLA from Alot, brother-in-law Vishal Gehlot (25), and grandmother-in-law Anita Gehlot (60), repeatedly harassed her for a dowry of ₹50 lakh. She alleged that she was denied food, beaten frequently, and subjected to continuous mental torture. She also claimed she was stopped from meeting her four-year-old daughter unless she brought money from her parents.
One of the most disturbing allegations concerns an incident on January 26. According to Divya, her intoxicated husband confronted her over dowry money and then pushed her off the roof. Though she suffered serious injuries, she says she was not taken to a hospital until the next morning. Doctors at a private hospital in Nagda declared her in critical condition and referred her to Bombay Hospital in Indore.

Divya and Devendra married on April 29, 2018, under the Chief Minister’s Kanyadan Scheme. She alleged that crucial information, including Devendra’s alleged drug addiction and affairs, was concealed from her at the time of marriage.
Former MLA Jitendra Gehlot responded to the allegations, stating that the family will present their facts before the media, while the police inquiry is underway.
