Global tensions in the Middle East push up fuel costs; new LPG prices take effect nationwide from today while Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries continue to receive ₹300 subsidy support.
In yet another setback for households already struggling with rising prices and inflation, oil marketing companies have announced a fresh increase in the price of LPG cylinders across India. The revised rates have come into effect from today, making both domestic and commercial cylinders more expensive for consumers.
According to the updated price list issued by oil companies, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹60. At the same time, the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder, commonly used by hotels, restaurants and other businesses, has become ₹115 costlier.
With this latest revision, the price of a non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from ₹853 to ₹913. Prices in other cities across the country have also gone up, though the exact amount varies depending on local taxes. This means households and businesses in different regions will see slightly different prices.

The sudden hike is expected to add further financial pressure on ordinary citizens who are already facing the impact of inflation and rising living costs.
Industry sources say the increase is linked to the volatile global energy market, particularly the rising tensions in the Middle East. The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has led to fluctuations and sharp movements in the international prices of crude oil and natural gas.
As India imports a large portion of its energy requirements, these global price changes directly influence domestic fuel costs. To balance the rising import prices, oil companies have adjusted LPG cylinder rates in the country.
Notably, the previous revision in domestic LPG prices was made in April 2025, when the price of a household cylinder was increased by ₹50. After remaining stable for several months, prices have now risen again.

While the hike has impacted most consumers, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will continue to receive some relief. The central government has clarified that eligible households under the scheme will still receive a ₹300 subsidy on LPG cylinders.
This means that despite the price increase, Ujjwala beneficiaries will continue to get cylinders at a subsidised rate.
