Inauguration at Chamundi Hills

The ceremonial launch took place during the auspicious ascendant of Scorpio. The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, draped in a green saree and placed on a silver chariot, was the focal point of the event. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and several ministers, MLAs, and MPs attended the inaugural ceremony.

Authorities imposed restrictions on public entry to Chamundi Hills until the inauguration concluded. Only invitees were allowed, with dedicated seating for VVIPs, VIPs, and pass holders. Heavy police deployment and barricades around the venue ensured smooth conduct of the rituals.

Palace Durbar Preparations

Parallel to the hilltop rituals, preparations for the royal durbar at the Ambavilas Palace are underway. The titular king of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, began the day with traditional ceremonies. The golden throne was readied between 5:30 and 5:45 a.m., while the bracelet ceremony took place at the Chamundi tank later in the morning.

Trishika Kumari Wodeyar performed the bracelet ritual for Yaduveer, followed by prayers to elephants, horses, and cows in the palace premises. At the auspicious time of 12:42 to 12:58 p.m., Yaduveer held a private durbar, seated on the jewel-studded throne, continuing a centuries-old royal tradition.

Festival to Run Until October 2

The Mysore Dasara festivities will span across the city until October 2, showcasing cultural performances, religious ceremonies, and the famed royal procession. With both government and royal households engaged, Mysuru has officially stepped into its most celebrated season.
