From PM Modi to Rahul Gandhi, political leaders across party lines remembered former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on his first birth anniversary after his passing in 2024.

India came together across political divides on Friday to honor Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister, on his 93rd birth anniversary. This is the first anniversary since his passing in December 2024, and tributes flowed in highlighting his transformative role in India’s journey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage, writing on X:

“Tributes to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji on his birth anniversary. We recall his contributions to our nation during his long years in public life.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a heartfelt Hindi tribute, remembered Singh’s “unwavering dedication to nation-building, bold decisions for the poor, and historic contributions to building a strong economy,” adding that his simplicity and honesty will inspire generations.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hailed him as the “gentle architect of India’s economic transformation,” praising his humility, vision, and inclusive growth model that created opportunities while uplifting millions out of poverty.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also paid respects:

“Remembering Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji, on his birth anniversary. His years of service to the nation will always be remembered with respect.”
