Initial reports say an aircraft carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar crashed while landing near Baramati, leaving the NCP leader injured and hospitalised.
A plane carrying Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reportedly crashed on Wednesday morning while attempting to land near Baramati in Maharashtra, triggering concern across political circles.
According to initial information, the aircraft met with an accident close to Baramati airport during the landing process. Ajit Pawar, who is 66 years old, sustained injuries in the incident and was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. His current medical condition has not yet been officially confirmed.
Sources indicated that Ajit Pawar’s personal security officers were also on board the aircraft at the time of the crash. There is, however, no clarity yet on whether the bodyguards or other occupants suffered injuries.
As of now, authorities have not released details regarding the cause of the crash, the extent of damage to the aircraft, or the severity of Ajit Pawar’s injuries. Officials are expected to conduct a detailed assessment and investigation once preliminary checks are completed.
