At Telangana Rising Summit, Dy CM Shivakumar urged Bengaluru–Hyderabad cooperation, noting South’s GDP share could rise to 45%, stressing unity & investor trust
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has called for stronger collaboration between Bengaluru and Hyderabad, stressing that partnership rather than rivalry will define the future of southern India’s economic growth. Speaking at the Telangana Rising Global Summit at Bharat Future City, he praised the rapid strides made by the Telangana government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and said the summit reshaped his earlier perception of Telangana as a competitor to Bengaluru.
Shivakumar highlighted the growing importance of southern states in India’s economy, noting that they already contribute more than 30 percent of national GDP. He projected this share could rise to 40–45 percent in the coming years, driven by technology and innovation. Bengaluru alone employs nearly 25 lakh engineers, while Hyderabad’s expanding tech ecosystem makes the two cities natural partners in shaping India’s technology story.

The remarks underline a shift in narrative from competition to collaboration among southern technology hubs, with leaders recognizing that collective strength can attract greater investment and global recognition.
