In a major development linked to the National Herald case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has named Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his brother, MP D.K. Suresh, in a chargesheet for donating a total of ₹5.8 crore to Young India Limited. The ED alleges that the funds contributed lacked a clear and lawful objective.

According to the chargesheet submitted to the court, the donations came both from Shivakumar personally and through an education trust he owns. Contributions include ₹2 crore from the trust, ₹25 lakh as a personal donation, and another ₹2.5 crore jointly from the brothers.
The ED also mentions that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy similarly directed party leaders to contribute to Young India, including instructing four leaders to donate ₹80 lakh in total. Other Congress leaders like Gali Anil Kumar and P. Sudarshan reportedly contributed ₹20 lakh and ₹15 lakh, respectively.
Young India Limited — with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge as directors — had taken over National Herald’s assets. The ED accuses the Gandhis of misusing ₹142 crore and converting black money into white.
The case raises serious questions about political funding and financial propriety within Congress ranks as the investigation deepens.
