The competition began under warm, blustery conditions at the Qatar Sports Club stadium, where Chopra started off cautiously, recording a foul on his first attempt. However, the reigning world and Olympic champion quickly regained composure, posting consistent throws in the mid-80s to stay in contention.
It was in the final round that Chopra delivered his best, producing a massive 90.23m throw that sent the Indian camp into celebration. Despite the impressive distance, the mark earned him second place behind Germany’s Julian Weber, who took the top spot with a season-leading 91.06m.
