During a private dinner on Monday, Netanyahu presented Trump with a formal nomination letter addressed to the Nobel Prize committee, applauding the president’s efforts to secure peace in volatile regions. “This is well deserved,” Netanyahu reportedly told Trump while handing him the document. The gesture appeared to catch Trump off guard, prompting a heartfelt “thank you” from the president, who has frequently voiced his aspiration to be honored with the prestigious global award.

Netanyahu credited Trump’s leadership in what he described as “forging peace across nations and regions,” citing both past diplomatic moves and recent American military actions in the Middle East. He emphasized that collaborative efforts between their governments have helped confront shared challenges and create opportunities.

The two leaders met against the backdrop of rising international scrutiny over Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza and an ongoing hostage crisis. Families of hostages held by Hamas have been urging both Israeli and American leadership to ensure any future ceasefire deal includes provisions for the captives’ safe return.

Earlier in the day, Netanyahu met with U S Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff at Blair House, the official guest residence near the White House. The meetings focused on regional security and diplomatic strategy.
