In a significant boost to regional connectivity and IT sector accessibility, a new direct weekly train service between Gwalior and Bengaluru was inaugurated on Thursday by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The launch took place at Gwalior Railway Station, where the minister also boarded the train for a segment of its inaugural journey.

The service, aimed at reducing travel time and improving accessibility for job seekers, students, and families, marks the first-ever direct rail link between the two cities. The train will take approximately 30 hours to complete the journey, providing a much-needed travel option for residents of the Gwalior-Chambal region.
The train will halt at key stations including Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Bina, Vidisha, and Bhopal, significantly easing the commute for passengers who previously had to travel long distances to board Bengaluru-bound trains from cities like Kota, Bina, or Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the flag-off ceremony virtually, underscoring the importance of enhanced rail connectivity for regional development.
This new route is expected to particularly benefit students seeking higher education in Bengaluru and professionals pursuing careers in the city’s IT industry. The initiative also reflects ongoing infrastructure growth in Madhya Pradesh, with Gwalior now connected to a wider network of destinations, aligning with broader national goals for integrated transport and development.
