As cities across India prepare to celebrate New Year’s Eve, residents and visitors can expect a mix of open and closed establishments. Most restaurants, bars, and clubs, particularly in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Goa, will be bustling with New Year’s Eve parties, special events, and dinners. These venues are expected to remain open into the late hours, offering festive experiences for revelers.

Shopping malls and major retail stores are also set to operate, with extended hours in many places due to New Year sales and the holiday rush. Public transportation services, including buses, metro systems, and ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber, will run, although some services may be reduced or operate on altered schedules in the evening.

Hotels, particularly those in tourist destinations or offering special New Year’s Eve packages, will remain open to accommodate guests.

On the other hand, government offices and most banks will be closed as December 31 is not a national holiday. Post offices will also remain closed, as they typically do on public holidays.

In Bengaluru, the police have implemented traffic restrictions to manage the large crowds expected in areas like MG Road, Brigade Road, and Koramangala. Extra personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain order as people ring in the New Year.
