In a bid to tackle traffic congestion en route to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct a new flyover near Sadahalli junction. The project aims to ensure a seamless travel experience for airport-bound vehicles, particularly those using the Hebbal route.

With KIA managing approximately 750 flights daily and catering to over one lakh passengers, efficient road connectivity has become crucial. An estimated 80% of passengers access the airport via Hebbal, underscoring the importance of addressing bottlenecks along this corridor.
The proposed flyover, which will alleviate delays at Sadahalli junction near the toll plaza, is expected to provide relief to more than 2 lakh vehicles that traverse this route daily. Currently, vehicles face significant delays at the toll plaza and traffic signals, making the journey cumbersome.
NHAI has already made strides in improving connectivity with the construction of a 13-km-long signal-free flyover from Esteem Mall in Hebbal to Yelahanka Air Base. However, challenges persist at key intersections like Kodigehalli, Jakkur, and Allalsandra, where traffic signals disrupt smooth movement.
The tender process for the Sadahalli flyover is set to begin soon. Additionally, NHAI is exploring the feasibility of constructing flyovers at these critical signals to ensure a completely signal-free journey from Hebbal to the airport, further enhancing travel efficiency and passenger convenience.
