The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct an 18-kilometre connector road linking the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway with the Bengaluru–Kolar Highway (NH 75). This strategic development aims to enhance regional connectivity, particularly for motorists traveling toward the Andhra Pradesh border.

Currently, a 68-kilometre stretch of the expressway between Hoskote and Bethamangala (Kolar Gold Fields) is operational. However, the remaining portions of the corridor extending through Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh remain under development, resulting in incomplete interstate access. The proposed road aims to bridge this gap, streamlining traffic movement and integrating regional networks.

Travelers currently detour through village and district roads after reaching Bethamangala, facing slower transit and limited infrastructure. The new link will replace these less efficient routes with a direct connection from Sundarapalya to Mulbagal, seamlessly feeding into NH 75. This improvement is expected to significantly reduce travel time, alleviate congestion, and support smoother cross-border transport.

NHAI plans to implement toll systems along the new stretch, while also focusing on local development and employment opportunities. With current traffic on the completed expressway section averaging between 1,800 and 2,000 vehicles daily, volumes are expected to increase with the completion of the link road.

The infrastructure project is poised to play a critical role in regional transport efficiency and stimulate economic activity across connected districts.
