The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken charge of the investigation into the devastating terror attack at Baisaran in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed on April 22, 2025. The move follows directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Reportedly, according to an NIA spokesperson, teams from the agency have been stationed at the attack site since April 23 and have intensified efforts to gather crucial evidence. Senior officers, including an Inspector General (IG), a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and a Superintendent of Police (SP), are supervising the operation on the ground.

Investigators are conducting detailed examinations of eyewitness accounts to reconstruct the sequence of events surrounding the brutal attack. Eyewitnesses are being questioned thoroughly to extract critical information that may help trace the perpetrators.

The agency’s teams are also meticulously inspecting all entry and exit points around Baisaran valley to understand the terrorists' movement and operational methods. Forensic experts and technical specialists are assisting in combing the area for any physical or electronic evidence linked to the attackers.

Describing the attack as one of the worst in Kashmir’s recent history, the NIA reiterated its commitment to uncovering the conspiracy behind the massacre. The agency’s intensified efforts aim to bring those responsible to justice and restore a sense of security in the region.
