NIRF Rankings 2024: IISc Bengaluru ranked 2nd, IIT Madras retains top spot for 6th year in row

In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has retained its position as the premier higher education institution in India for the sixth consecutive year. This continued excellence underscores IIT Madras's leadership in the education sector, further solidifying its reputation among India's top institutions.

Following IIT Madras in the overall rankings are the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, which occupy the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. In the university category, IISc Bengaluru has emerged as the leading institution, with Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia claiming the second and third spots.

In specific categories, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has been recognized as the top institution in the medical field. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad continues to lead in management education, while IIT Madras also excels in both the engineering and overall categories.

These rankings reflect the ongoing commitment of these institutions to academic excellence and their significant contributions to higher education in India.
