Bengaluru will observe several dry days in early June, coinciding with the Karnataka Legislative Council and Lok Sabha elections. These restrictions, aimed at ensuring smooth conduct and minimizing disturbances, are expected to impact residents and the hospitality sector significantly.

Dry days in Bengaluru:

June 1 to June 3: Liquor sales will be prohibited from 4 pm on June 1 until the end of June 3, coinciding with the Karnataka Legislative Council elections. Polling will occur on June 3, with vote counting set for June 6.

June 4: A complete ban on liquor sales will be enforced from 12 am to 12 am, as the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 vote counting takes place. All shops, bars, hotels, restaurants, and taverns will be closed, although restaurants and hotels may serve food and non-alcoholic beverages.

June 6: Another dry day is scheduled for June 6, aligning with the announcement of the Karnataka Legislative Council election results.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda issued the order under relevant regulations to ensure public safety and orderly conduct during these election-related events.

While these measures aim to maintain order, they are expected to inconvenience residents who enjoy socializing or dining out and disrupt the sales and operations of liquor vendors, hotels, and restaurants during these periods.
