Canada visa-processing services shut in Bengaluru
Facility now moved to Delhi
Canada-India ties have soured since last month
With Canada deciding to shut its visa-processing facility in Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Mumbai, it will certainly be a big task for visa-seekers.
The facility will be available only in Delhi now. It might be recalled that Canada had issued an advisory, updated on October 19.
It said, “In the context of recent developments in Canada and in India, there are calls for protests and some negative sentiment towards Canada in traditional media and on social media.”
The relations between the two countries hit rock bottom last month after Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau levelled accusations against the Indian government of having played a role in the elimination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canada soil.
However, on its part, India has strongly denied these allegations. It further added that the “core issue” in its relationship with Canada is the safe space that “terrorists and criminal elements” have secured in that country.
