In the last 6 days, the temperatures have been:

April 21: 37.4 degrees
April 22: 37.2 degrees
April 23: 37.6 degrees
April 24: 37.6 degrees
April 25: 37.4 degrees
April 26: 37.4 degrees

Though life has been extremely difficult, there seems to be no respite for the people as weathermen have forecast more such hot days. However, on the other side, other parts of Karnataka have good news in that the heavens are likely to open up in the coming days.

The exacerbated water issues

Bengaluru has been facing an unprecedented water crisis for the last several weeks. And zilch rains have only made matters worse. At the same time, rapid urbanisation with non-porous roads, no piped water supply, borewells drying up and addition of more villages to Bengaluru jurisdiction have only made matters worse.

It was reported that high-rise dwellers in the city were forced to use mall toilets. And using this adversity as an opportunity, the tanker mafia thrived, charging more than a thousand rupees per load.
