Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar launched a scathing attack on JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK), accusing him of spreading lies and being "not in his right mind" over the ongoing gold smuggling controversy involving Ranya Rao.

Speaking in Kolhara, Vijayapura district, Shivakumar responded to HDK’s allegations involving Congress leaders and gold smuggling, stating, “Kumaraswamy is known only for lies.”

DK Shivakumar expressed outrage at Kumaraswamy's recent remarks, suggesting they were politically motivated and baseless. HDK had said that “Someone is trying to become CM next just by putting a towel,” indicating DKS without naming him directly.

HDK challenged critics to reveal who encroached on Dalit lands given in the past and questioned why Congress party’s internal matters are being leaked. HDK and Shivakumar’s remarks highlight deepening rifts in state politics.

In anotehr development, the ED has filed a chargesheet in which it has stated that DK Shivakumar and his brother have made a financial contribution of Rs 5.8 cr to Young India Limited.  The deputy CM, when asked, asserted his contribution, adding there was nothing wrong in doing so.
