After years of a cat-and-mouse game with the police, the notorious burglar Shahrukh Khan, aged 54, has finally been arrested by the Jnanabharathi police. Known for his swift getaways and unique "one-day-a-week" burglary strategy, Shahrukh had turned housebreaking into a full-time career over the past 25 years, targeting homes in Bengaluru and across Karnataka.

With a record of over 65 housebreaking cases under his belt, Shahrukh's operations spanned 28 police station jurisdictions across the state. His routine was simple yet effective: commit a burglary every Saturday night, then spend the rest of the week enjoying the spoils and indulging in horse race betting , his part-time passion. Sources indicate that much of the wealth he accumulated from stolen gold and cash, often amounting to lakhs of rupees, was squandered in race betting.

Shahrukh’s skills were such that he often left even young, agile criminals amazed by his ability to escape at high speeds on his bike. His brazen actions and the volume of cases filed against him kept the police on their toes for decades. After being released from jail last year, he resumed his housebreaking spree, further intensifying efforts by law enforcement to capture him.

The Jnanabharathi police finally apprehended Shahrukh, recovering gold jewelry worth over Rs 15 lakh and cracking at least five housebreaking cases in their jurisdiction. This arrest is seen as a significant victory against serial property crimes in the city and surrounding areas.
