A bus driver with the North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has been suspended after he was found offering namaz on duty, causing disruption to passengers and traffic.

Following the incident, Mulla was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty. According to NWKRTC officials, stopping the bus on a public road for personal activities amounts to misconduct and endangers passenger safety.

The disciplinary officer of NWKRTC issued the suspension order, stating that Mulla will remain suspended pending the outcome of a detailed investigation. He has also been asked to submit a formal explanation for his actions.

Transport officials emphasized that while the right to religious practice is respected, public servants are expected to act responsibly and prioritize passenger safety and service discipline while on duty.

The incident has sparked a debate on balancing personal religious practices with professional responsibilities, especially in public service roles. NWKRTC is reviewing the situation and has assured strict adherence to operational protocols.
