Indeed, a global job site published the findings of its study, “The Job Search Process: A Look from the Inside Out” to reflect on the changing dynamic of the job market and more specifically the demands the current generation have while looking for jobs. 1810 people were interviewed for the survey 561 of whom were recruits and 1249 of whom were job applicants. The various parameters around which questions were asked were work flexibility, work modes, job location and salary. Work flexibility was of paramount importance to 71% of the respondents. This included choosing one’s hours of work and having the option to take breaks at one’s own discretion. Closely linked to this, having the work from home and hybrid working options was seen as a positive by 70% of the respondents. Proximity to home was an important factor to 69% of the applicants. Health insurance policies, the company’s leave policies, skill building exercises within the company along with the salary are also given priority by 67% of the respondents.
The recruiters were also cognizant of these demands. 51% of the companies were already in a position to offer the hybrid model of work.
As far as the recruitment process is concerned, job seekers appreciated a transparent unbiased process of selection. Close to half of the job seekers wanted the amount for compensation to be stated beforehand. Close to half the respondents also gauged the psychological and physiological stress of their jobs. Only 15% of applicants hear back from recruiters within 2 weeks. Clear communication is a time saving, effective way to handle recruitments.
