  • Congress' vision is still negative: Modi
  • CAG report highlighted concerns regarding Dwarka Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Haryana leg of the Dwarka expressway in Gurugram. This will establish direct connectivity between the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and the Gurugram bypass. It is also anticipated to reduce traffic along NH-48.

Speaking at a rally in Gurugram, Modi also launched an attack at the opposition parties in light of a spree of inaugurations of developmental projects.  “Only the Congress and its arrogant alliance are facing problems due to these developmental projects worth lakhs of crores of rupees being done in the country. They are not able to sleep. That's why they are saying that Modi is doing work worth lakhs of crores of rupees because of elections. The country has changed so much in 10 years, but the views of Congress and its friends have not changed. Their vision is still the same – all negative,” Modi said. Earlier a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) raised concerns about the Dwarka Expressway. “The average cost of an elevated road even in the most conservative scenario is at least Rs 100 crore per km. Moreover, the plan head of greenfield expressways in the Bhatratmala pipeline explicitly mentions that cost can be established after Detailed Project Report as there are no standard cost norms for these components,” The CAG highlighted.
