In light of heightened Indo-Pak tensions, a large-scale mock drill has been scheduled across Karnataka, set to begin tomorrow at 4 PM. The drill, organized by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, will be conducted in three key locations namely, Bengaluru, Karwar, and Raichur. This operation, named “Operation Abhyaas," aims to evaluate and strengthen the state’s emergency response systems.

The week-long drill will involve the use of sirens installed at police stations and fire department offices. A total of 35 sirens have been installed across the state, of which 32 are confirmed to be functional. Each siren will have a range of up to three kilometers, ensuring widespread reach in case of actual emergencies. However, reports indicate that three of the sirens are currently non-functional and will be addressed before the drill begins.
According to DGP Prashanth Kumar Thakur of the Fire and Emergency Services Department, this initiative is a proactive measure to ensure all emergency protocols are in place and to enhance coordination among agencies. Citizens are advised not to panic upon hearing the sirens and to treat this as a routine preparedness activity.
