Kanatra won the inaugural Silver Peacock award at IFFI

Rishab Shetty also won the special jury award for Best Actor

I wanted to make a request to IFFI and its sponsors to give recognition to our films: Rishab

Kanatra directed by Rishab Shetty won the inaugural Silver Peacock award at the International Film Festival held in Goa between November 20th and November 28th. Rishab Shetty also won the special jury award for Best Actor. “The audience connected with Kantara because it is a story rooted in the culture of Bharat. The audience took the film to where it is today, truly making it their own.At present, there is a revolution underway-good content is widely accepted overcoming the language barriers,” he said during a speech he made in the event.

It is in this regard that he also highlighted the need for greater acceptance and promotion of content in Kannada in OTT platforms. “OTT platforms are not open to the Kannada film industry. That is a very bad sign. They say there are no subscribers here, they are looking into the matter and thinking. Two production houses were actively working during Corona, Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios and my Rishab Shetty films, and apart from that, some production houses were also making films, and we are actively doing film festivals, but they are not taking the films. So I wanted to make a request to IFFI and its sponsors to give recognition to our films … films which have less exposure in theatres should also get some recognition and they should be taken to OTT platforms,” he mentioned.
