India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, attributed India's 43-run victory over Sri Lanka to a stroke of luck, specifically the absence of dew during their match in Pallekele. Yadav expressed relief that the lack of dew played in their favour, especially considering the strong start made by the Sri Lankan batsmen.

"Our luck was good because there was no dew. It would have been difficult to win the match if there had been dew," Yadav stated after the match. He praised the Lankan team's batting performance from the beginning but highlighted how India managed to hold their ground and maintain rhythm throughout the game.
Batting first, India set a formidable target of 213 runs. Despite a spirited effort by Sri Lanka, they were bowled out for 170 runs in 19.2 overs. Yadav emphasized the importance of the win, noting that it was crucial for the team to perform well in the absence of dew.
Yadav also commented on the effective combination of left-hand and right-hand batting and bowling, which he believed contributed to the team's success. The win marks a promising start for the new era under Yadav's captaincy and the coaching of Gautam Gambhir.
