Security checks conducted between September 2024 and March 2025 revealed that the most frequent violation was playing loud music with 11,922 cases recorded. Additionally, there were 14,162 instances where commuters failed to vacate priority seats reserved for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PwD), pregnant women and passengers with infants.

Others include 554 cases of passengers eating inside metro trains despite guidelines discouraging it, 474 cases of commuters carrying oversized luggage, obstructing movement inside metro coaches.

Although no financial penalties were issued, the Namma Metro Security Squad warned violators and urged commuters to follow the rules.

“We request passengers to respect metro guidelines for a smooth and pleasant journey. Repeated violations could lead to penalties in the future,” BMRCL stated.
