Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to brief him on India's security readiness following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. This meeting came a day after Singh held discussions with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan regarding the military’s strategic measures to counter Pakistan’s actions after the horrific attack.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces initiated "unprovoked" firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, further escalating tensions. This marks the fourth consecutive ceasefire violation by Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident. The Indian Army confirmed that during the night of April 27-28, Pakistani posts opened small arms fire across areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts. The Army stated that it responded "swiftly and effectively" to the provocations.

The Pahalgam attack, which occurred on April 22 at Baisaran meadow, resulted in the brutal killing of 26 tourists and one local Kashmiri resident. It is being described as one of the deadliest terror attacks in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. The incident has prompted strong responses from the Indian military and government, signaling a firm stance against any further provocations.
