Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir launched a major crackdown on Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives. On Friday night, the houses of five terrorists were demolished across Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama districts. Among them was Shahid Ahmed Kutte, a long-active LeT commander, whose house in Choti Pora village was reduced to rubble. Similarly, Zahid Ahmed’s house in Kulgam’s Matalan areas and Ahsan Ul Haq’s home in Pulwama’s Murran area were also destroyed; Ahsan had returned recently after terror training in Pakistan. The homes of two other LeT terrorists, Ehsan Ahmad Sheikh and Haris Ahmad, active since 2023, were also razed.

This action follows earlier demolitions of Adil Hussain Thoker and Asif Sheikh’s homes, who were identified as key suspects in the Pahalgam attack. Authorities also released sketches of other suspects, Hashim Musa alias Suleman and Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai, believed to be Pakistani nationals and announced a reward for information leading to their capture.

The Pahalgam attack saw terrorists firing at tourists in Baisaran valley, causing widespread panic and a lifetime of trauma to many families. In response, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to hunt down and punish all terrorists involved. A joint operation involving the army, CRPF and local police continues in the region.
