Tragedy struck on April 22 in Baisaran near Pahalgam, a scenic destination often dubbed "mini Switzerland." While enjoying a quiet moment together, Lieutenant Narwal was shot in the head by a terrorist, dying instantly. Himanshi, who witnessed the attack, was left blood-splattered and in shock.

Narwal's body was brought to Delhi the following day. Draped in the national flag, his coffin was received with full military honors. Overcome with emotion but resolute, Himanshi stood beside her husband's remains, saluted him, and said “Jai Hind,” offering a poignant final tribute in front of grieving family, naval officers, and Delhi officials.

Lieutenant Narwal had joined the Indian Navy two years ago and was posted in Kochi. He was one of 26 people, including an Intelligence Bureau officer, killed in the attack. His grandfather, a veteran of the BSF and Haryana Police, spoke of Vinay’s lifelong dream to serve the nation, a dream he pursued with determination despite family concerns.

His sacrifice has left a nation mourning and a young wife with memories of a love cut tragically short.
