Pakistan: 14-year-old Girl shoots father to death unable to bear prolonged sexual assault

A 14-year-old girl fired a bullet at her father while he was asleep, rendering him dead as he was allegedly sexually harassing her for a period of 3 to 4 months. The incident occurred in the Gujjarpura area of Lahore in Pakistan.  

The shot was fired at 6 AM in the morning of 23rd September. The family initially tried to keep the incident outside the knowledge of the police but a neighbour eventually informed them. The girl, her mother, her brother and a neighbour were detained by the Police of Civil Lines Hassan Bhatti for the purposes of enquiring the case. It was upon enquiry that they uncovered the trauma undergone by the child.

  “She said she was going through hell and decided to kill her rapist father and hence shot him dead using his gun. A case would be registered against the suspect after investigating all aspects,” a police official said as per The Express Tribune. 

Just a day prior to the incident, a man was sentenced to death in Pakistan for raping his teenage child. “A father is always considered a natural guardian and protector of his children, and if a daughter is harmed by someone outside the house, she turns to her father, considering him her guardian. But in this case, the real father, by committing incest, has destroyed the personality, soul, and body of his own minor daughter. The minor has suffered a psychological disaster,” the judge said while pronouncing the verdict.
