Following the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 innocent lives were lost, India has taken decisive action. In a major move, the Indian government canceled the visas of Pakistani citizens living in India, ordering them to leave the country within strict deadlines.

Pakistanis who entered India under SAARC visas must return by today. Those who arrived on medical visas have until April 29 to leave. All others must depart by April 27. Failure to comply will result in being classified as illegal foreigners under India’s newly implemented laws, leading to strict action.
The Attari-Wagah border has been officially closed, further tightening the exit routes for returning Pakistanis. No new visas will be issued for Pakistani citizens, effectively halting all fresh entries. However, those who hold long-term visas — primarily Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis fleeing persecution in Pakistan — are exempt and can continue to reside legally in India.
Long-term visa holders also include Pakistani women married to Indian citizens, offering them protection under the current rules.
With the 48-hour deadline pressing hard, reports indicate a rush among Pakistani nationals at various exit points. Panic and urgency are visible as many scramble to comply with India's orders and avoid severe legal consequences.
