Kambala, which is an integral part of the culture and tradition of the South Canara region of Karnataka is set to be held in the capital city of Bengaluru for the first time. 200 sets of Buffalos would participate in this edition. The event would take place over a course of 2 days in the Palace Grounds. The palace has been decorated like a bride for this purpose.

This important stage has been named in remembrance of the late actor Puneet Rajkumar. The track has been named after the great king Krishnaraja Wodeyar. The Pilli Yesa or the Tiger Masque, a dance unique to Tulunadu would also be performed on this occasion. The track for Kambala is usually 147-metres-long. This time however, it would be 155-metres-long. The participants have brought the apt grass and water for the event from their hometown. They had the apprehension that a change in quality of water might have an adverse impact on the health of the buffalos.

The winner of the event would be granted 2 pounds of gold and Rs 1 lakh in terms of cash. This is a substantial upgrade from the events conducted in Karavali wherein 8 grams of gold and Rs 50,000 would be granted to the winners.
