A high-stakes parliamentary debate on Operation Sindoor is scheduled for July 29, with the government allocating 16 hours in the Lok Sabha and nine in the Rajya Sabha during the ongoing Monsoon Session. The discussion comes amid growing pressure from the Opposition, which is demanding clarity on the military operation and related developments, including the recent Pahalgam terror attack and electoral roll revisions in Bihar.

Top government figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, are expected to speak during the session. The debate has gained prominence after former US President Donald Trump claimed to have brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan following the May 7 strikes.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack and involved precise air and ground strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The swift, 22-minute mission was hailed by the government as a demonstration of India’s advanced military capability and strategic preparedness.

Ahead of the debate, Defence Minister Singh held high-level meetings with the Chief of Defence Staff and the three service chiefs to finalise the government’s stand. The timing of the debate, soon after Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, is seen as part of a broader nationalistic narrative highlighting India’s military strength.
