Speaking exclusively to NewsFirst Prime, Director Vivek Agnihotri talked about how this interpretation of Mahabharata is different from other films which have hit the screens. “If you look at Mahabharata as mythology, you’ll make a certain type of film, a spectacle, but if you look at it as history, a human story and an epic tale of Dharma, you’ll make it in a different way. I don’t think anybody has tried to make it as an epic tale of Dharma. We’ll be true to Dr Bhyrappa’s book,” he stated.

Prakash Belawadi also spoke to NewsFirst Prime about the various challenges of adapting a book into a screenplay. “Parva is a challenge because it is very thick with episodic strength. This is what Bhyrappa calls a Rasathana. We have to condense it and maintain the essence in the novel. It is not an adaptation of Mahabharata, it borrows from it and speculates about what might have happened in the minds of the characters making it a difficult challenge to condense it,” he expressed.

Parva would be released in both Kannada and Hindi. There would be three instalments of the film.
