A public spat has erupted between actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and actor Prakash Raj over allegations of adulteration in the ghee used for making Tirupati Temple laddoos. The controversy began when Kalyan expressed concerns about reports suggesting the ghee contains animal fat, including fish oil, pork fat, and beef fat.

Pawan Kalyan, questioning the accountability of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, previously under the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, called for a broader discussion on protecting temples. He suggested the formation of a "Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board" at the national level to prevent the desecration of Hindu religious practices.

In a social media post, Kalyan stated, "A national debate involving policymakers, religious heads, judiciary, media, and citizens is necessary to address issues related to temples across India."

Prakash Raj, however, criticised Kalyan for turning a local issue into a national controversy. Raj urged Kalyan to investigate the matter at the state level instead of stirring communal tensions. "It has happened in a state where you are a Deputy Chief Minister. Please find out the culprits and take action," Raj posted in response.
