Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan is in Karnataka on an official tour. As he addressed the press in Bengaluru, he paid glowing tributes to poet laureate Kuvempu, an iconic figure in Kannada literature.

Talking about his meeting with his Karnataka counterpart Eshwar Khandre, the Deputy CM said, “As our meeting started, we noted a short verse from Kuvempu’s Kavi Sampada,. Though I am a minister, I am a conservationist at heart.”

Then, turning his attention to the poet, he said, “The verse by Kuvempu really invoked a great feeling in me. I have great respect for the Kannada language. The verse is from ‘Aranyakke Hadu’, which translates to ‘A Song for the Forest’.
The minister then specifically read out the lines which impressed him. They translate to, “Before singing a song for the forest, I stand before my own mind, the petals of my mind open up.”
These are words by the poet in admiration of Mother Nature, Her beauty and the idyllic inclinations he had.
Earlier in the day, he also met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and forest minister Eshwar Khandre. He is visiting Karnataka to discuss pertinent issues related to the environment, including man-animal conflict.
