In a trend that has taken Tollywood by storm, the re-release of classic star films is drawing massive crowds. Leading the charge is Superstar Pawan Kalyan, whose film Gabbar Singh has shattered records with its re-release. The film, re-released in celebration of Kalyan’s birthday, amassed an impressive ₹6 crore across the two Telugu states, once again proving the star’s enduring appeal.
A distributor reportedly highlighted the film’s success, noting that Gabbar Singh drew higher collections in Andhra Pradesh compared to Telangana. The re-release success doesn’t stop there. The Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, also a significant figure in the industry, saw the film surpass the collections of his brother Chiranjeevi’s Indra and Jr NTR’s Simhadri, which had collected ₹4 crore. Mahesh Babu’s Businessman also saw a strong performance, securing ₹5.7 crore, placing him just behind Pawan Kalyan in re-release earnings.
Meanwhile, re-releases of other stars’ films like Ram Charan’s Orange and Allu Arjun’s Desamuduru have seen more modest collections, each under ₹2 crore. However, non-star films like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi and Oey have still managed to carve out a space, each grossing ₹1.5 crore, proving that even smaller films can thrive in this growing re-release market.
