The project aims to enhance the city's green cover while paying tribute to Karnataka’s iconic personalities.

The initiative was officially inaugurated at Raj Bhavan by Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, in the presence of Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre and other dignitaries. Designed to transform Bengaluru into a model for sustainable urban greenery, the large-scale afforestation drive seeks to combat environmental degradation and mitigate the effects of climate change.

A key feature of the initiative is the use of geo-tagging technology for each planted tree, ensuring transparency, effective monitoring, and long-term conservation. The project also takes an innovative approach to honour Karnataka’s cultural and social heritage. Urban forests created under the program will be named after revered figures such as legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar, his son Puneeth Rajkumar, former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, and other luminaries who have made significant contributions to society.

With Bengaluru facing rising concerns over deforestation and pollution, this initiative comes as a crucial step toward restoring ecological balance. People’s Planet hopes the project will inspire similar efforts nationwide, reinforcing the importance of green spaces in urban environments.
