The two leaders first met in 2015 in California and again in 2023 in New York. Their most recent in-person meeting took place in February  during Modi’s two-day trip to Washington DC, where Musk visited him at Blair House, the official guest residence of the US President. Musk was accompanied by his three children.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the discussions touched on strengthening cooperation between Indian and American institutions in space exploration, artificial intelligence, innovation and sustainable development. Both sides also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and governance.

While the talks focused on broad areas of partnership, the ongoing engagement suggests potential for Tesla’s entry into the Indian market, as well as enhanced space and tech cooperation. Musk, noted for his influence in US politics, is also said to be leading a government initiative aimed at improving efficiency and reducing federal spending.
